Stylize Your Shutters with Options like Craftsman Shutter Frames in Baltimore
A misconception we sometimes hear from Baltimore homeowners is that “all shutters look the same.” Let’s get rid of any confusion – those claims couldn’t be further from the truth.
Many people aren’t aware of just how many options you have when it comes to buying plantation shutters in Baltimore, and the huge impact those options may have. Possibly chief among those options is the type of shutter frame you go with.
Baltimore Custom Shutter Frames
The options available to you for shutter frames will depend a few different things:
-
The style of your window.
-
The depth of the window jamb.
-
Whether you’ll have an outside mount or inside mount.
-
Your own personal taste.
Some of our shutter frames are only available in certain materials, such as our Polywood® faux wood shutters, a few are only available with an inside or outside mount of a window, and some will be a better match for your existing trim, like our Craftsman frame shutters, ideal for Craftsman style homes and only offered by Sunburst.
Let’s take a look at some of the most common shutter frames we recommend to Baltimore homeowners.
Craftsman Frame Shutters - You can’t turn on HGTV or read a design magazine for more than a few minutes without seeing Craftsman design. This Sunburst-exclusive frame was created especially for Craftsman style homes and homes with similar aesthetics. A Craftsman frame gives you a simple, clean look, so no part of your home looks “overdesigned” compared to the rest. If echoing some historic home style is what you want, this is your shutter frame. Currently offered in Polywood and reclaimed wood shutters only.
L-Frame Shutters - An L-frame is probably the simplest and most functional frame style. They have a tight, contemporary look, and tend to be the easiest to work around if your window has a peculiar size or shape. The L-frame can function as both an outside and inside mount, in case you want to keep your existing window trim, and is offered in all of our different shutter types.
Z-Frame Shutters - Z-frames are a popular choice because they offer a stylish, classy look on your window, much like crown or bass molding. This frame is called a “Z-frame” because of the shape of its exterior, which is installed on an inside mount of a window jamb, but hugs the jamb and extends to the outside making a “Z” figure. That extended shape allows it to substitute for window trim if you don’t have any existing trim. Z-frames are available in every single one of our shutters.
Decorative Frame Shutters - A decorative frame has a lot going on in the style department. With extensive texturing and an attention-grabbing shape, this frame looks fantastic for windows that don’t have any trim, or if you want to cover your existing trim. Decorative frames are available in Ovation and Polywood shutters only.
